Rajasthan Court gave life imprisonment to the wife and her lover for murdering the husband with a hammer and heater wire, but no sentence can bring the man back to his child and family.
RAJASTHAN: A Jhalawar court in Rajasthan, presided over by Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajiv Duttatreya at Bhawanimandi, has awarded life imprisonment to a 32-year-old woman and her 30-year-old lover after finding them guilty of murdering the woman’s husband.
The case relates to a village under the Sunel police station area of Jhalawar district. The husband was found dead inside his house on the morning of September 17, 2024. His death looked suspicious because he had injuries on his head and a heater wire was also found near him.
After the incident, a complaint was filed by the deceased man’s brother. On the basis of the complaint, police registered a murder case and started the investigation.
During investigation, it was revealed that the woman and the co-accused were allegedly in a relationship. According to the prosecution, the husband became an obstacle in their relationship, and this led to the crime.
The prosecution case was that on the intervening night of September 16 and 17, 2024, the woman and her lover attacked the husband while he was sleeping. They allegedly hit him on the head with a hammer and then used a heater wire to make the death look like an electrocution.
Police later arrested both accused under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 103(1), Section 238(A), and Section 3(5).
The most important evidence in the trial came from the 14-year-old daughter of the deceased. She was present in the room at the time of the crime. Her statement played a decisive role in proving the prosecution case before the court.
During the trial, the prosecution examined 23 witnesses. It also produced 65 documents and 8 material articles before the court. These helped the court understand how the murder was committed and how an attempt was made to hide it as an accidental death.
After considering the evidence, the court held both accused guilty of murder. The court awarded life imprisonment to both convicts and also imposed a fine of Rs. 30,000 on each of them.
