UTTAR PRADESH: A Meerut District Court has reportedly sentenced Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla to death for the brutal murder of Muskan's husband, Saurabh Rajput, in the infamous Meerut Blue Drum Murder Case, involving marital betrayal, a planned killing, and the concealment of the husband's dismembered body.

On October 14, 2026, the court awarded capital punishment to both convicts, following their conviction on September 30, 2026, in a murder case that shocked the entire country.

The case dates back to March 2025, when Saurabh Rajput was brutally murdered at his residence in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. According to the prosecution, Muskan was involved in an extramarital affair with Sahil Shukla, and the two planned to murder her husband.

The prosecution alleged that Muskan gave Saurabh food mixed with intoxicating substances to make him unconscious. She and Sahil then attacked him with a knife and killed him.

After the murder, Muskan and Sahil dismembered Saurabh's body, placed his remains inside a blue plastic drum, and sealed it with cement and sand to hide the crime.

The shocking murder came to light during the police investigation. Both accused were subsequently arrested after travelling to Himachal Pradesh.

During the trial, the prosecution presented circumstantial evidence, forensic findings, medical evidence, and witness statements to establish both accused's involvement.

The trial reportedly involved approximately 126 court hearings and testimony from more than 22 witnesses. The defence challenged the prosecution's case, arguing that there was no direct eyewitness to the murder.

However, on September 30, 2026, the Meerut Court convicted both Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla of murdering Saurabh Rajput and attempting to destroy evidence.

While delivering its conviction judgment, the court was reported to have observed:

"अपराध समाज में भय का माहौल पैदा करता है. सभी सबूतों की जांच के बाद यह साफ हो गया कि दोनों ने मिलकर सौरभ राजपूत की हत्या की और सबूतों को मिटाने की भी कोशिश की."

The Meerut Court sentenced Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla to death, considering the brutal nature of Saurabh Rajput's murder, the dismemberment of his body, and the attempt to conceal the crime.
