ROHIT was Mr. India, a beauty pageant, which is akin to Miss India kind of contest. After he filed his divorce in Delhi courts, his wife who was residing in Gurgaon for last 14 years, filed a case in Chandigarh, her hometown. The police filed the chargesheet after investigation.
Rohit argued the following points:
1. Allegations are Vague and no specific allegations are levelled
2. Crime, if any, was committed in Delhi and Gurgaon and not in Chandigarh
3. The whole was filed in connivance with the Police authorities in Chandigarh, as the complainant’s mother hold sway.
Based on these arguments, and studying the material in charge sheet, the court discharged the accused husband from the offence of 498A.
